Breathe California takes pride in its environmental education programs targeted to youth. Two key initiatives are:
O24u™ Environmental Education program
We designed the O24u™ Environmental Education program for elementary school students living in communities disproportionately impacted by air pollution. This multi-week after-school program empowers children to make a change for clean air by integrating non-toxic substances in their homes, incorporating reduce, recycle, and reuse habits into their everyday lives, and encourages them to be advocates for clean air in their community.
Clear the Air Film Festival
In 2016 Breathe California received a record-breaking 730 submissions to the Clear the Air Film Fest, which engages youth film makers in the development of short films focused on lung and environmental health. In the end, judges selected 10 youth films and two general public films which were screened to a nearly sold out cinema.
