To celebrate World Asthma Dusexc ay, Breathe California will attend the Skyline College Health Fair in San Bruno, California from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.  We will be partnering with the Skyline College Respiratory Therapy Program to provide important information about asthma, e-cigarettes and flavored tobacco products.


MariaElena Alioto, AE-C, Asthma Program Manager, conducts “All About Asthma” workshops in the community for many audiences in both English and Spanish.

All About Asthma is an adaptable guidelines-based asthma education and management program designed to increase knowledge, behavior and confidence in caring for children and adults with asthma.  All About Asthma works to eliminate asthma episodes, keep children out of the hospital and emergency room, and reduce school absenteeism.  All About Asthma is presented in English, Spanish and Chinese.  Child care providers who participate in the course earn professional growth units.

Program participants learn to:
• Develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to understand asthma.
• Learn what happens during an asthma attack and how the medications used to treat it work.
• Identify and mitigate asthma triggers.
• Identify what steps to take in an asthma emergency.
• And much more!

Where:
In schools, libraries, community clinics, community centers, at work and on college campuses  — wherever there are people with asthma.

Program Participants:
Parents, teachers, child care providers, human resources staff, coaches, nurses, after-school care staff.

Core Curriculum includes:
Respiratory system physiology, asthma pathophysiology, asthma warning signs and emergency steps, asthma symptoms, identification of environmental triggers (classification and control management), medications used in asthma management (classification and action, device delivery, inhaler technique), communication with clinicians, asthma action plans, asthma management tools, and allergy and asthma connections.

All About Asthma and Allergies for Parents

Breathe California is offering a free 1 hour class on All About Asthma and Allergies. This class will teach you about things that are in environments that can trigger asthma and allergies. You’ll learn how to help all children with asthma to breathe easier.

All that attend will be eligible to take an online survey. As an incentive those that complete the online survey will be eligible to receive a gift card to Target. One gift card per family. Use the gift card toward asthma friendly products. Sign up soon as space is limited. This class is by invitation via your childcare provider. Breathe California ofrece una clase gratuita de 1 hora de duración sobre asma y alergias. Esta clase le ayudara aprender que hay cosas en el medio ambiente que provocan alergias y asma. Ayude a todos los niños a que respiren mejor.También para esos que atiende la clase serán elegible de tomar un cuestionario en línea sobre lo que aprendió en la clase y como un gesto de gracias le enviamos una tarjeta de regalo a la tienda Target.
